Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) releases the occupations list every year and for the year 2014 CIC has released 24 Occupation with Overall cap of 5,000 with sub-caps of 300 applications in each of the occupations. Applicant will be entitled to ( FSW ) Federal Skilled Worker Program purely basis the occupations released for the particular year.
Applicants are assessed through the Points Grid. There are 100 points available to applicants and the current pass mark is 67. Points awarded for official language abilities, age, education, work experience, arranged employment and adaptability.
Applicant should meet at least one of the following necessities:
- Minimum one year of continuous work experience in one of the listed 24 occupations.
- Arranged employment Offer.
- Entitled to apply through the PhD stream.
If applicant is confident that they meet at least one of the above requirements, they must also meet the minimum language threshold and obtain an educational credential assessment.
Minimum Language Threshold
Applicant need to attain Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) in all four skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Language test results are valid for two years. Language test from organizations Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), and Test d’évaluation de français (TEF).Minimum requirement of applicant will be 4L on the CELPIP / 6.0 on IELTS and for TEF applicant should gain 206 in reading, 248 in listening, and 309 in both speaking and writing.
Educational Credential Assessment
ECA process will help in deciding if the foreign educational credential is authentic and equivalent to a completed credential in Canada. Following organizations have been designated CIC for assessment.
